An easy way to practice subitizing in a kindergarten classroom is to always have a bunch of videos pulled up for practice. Check out What Subitizing Means to help you understand this important math skill.
Here are a few stellar subitizing videos that can create an amazing math time. Of course, I like to have this page bookmarked for use during brain breaks or when there is that unexpected “extra” time that often happens in a classroom. I also add this link into my lesson plan so I can find it year after year!
This is just a quick practice video that is 1:13 from Rockey Mountain PBS. It’s simple and easy.
Fun with music but you have to say the numbers seen because they are not said. This is only up to five so it’s great practice. Always remember to work with 5 first before you move to working with groups of 10.
Classic rock sound and you once again need to say the number seen. The numbers do go to 10 so it’s starting to help with addition facts. I like to stop it and have a kiddo explain what they see.
Again, kiddos shout out the answer of the numbers they see.
A Few More Subitizing Videos

Kiddos shout the names of the numbers in each set of objects, ten frames, five frames and tally marks with a cute cowboy theme.
Just a bit of a rap! Same concept, should out the number!
This simple set is perfect for kiddos that are still counting dice. It’s all dice faces.
You might want to check out this fun game that I use with dice to develop subitizing and addition.
I hope these subitizing videos, save you a bit of time!
